How tall was Aaliyah?
Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an American singer, actor, and model (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001). Founded in Brooklyn and raised in Detroit, at the age of 10, she first received recognition when she debuted on Star Search's TV show and performed with Gladys Knight in concert. At age 12, Aaliyah signed Blackground Records with Jive Records and her uncle Barry Hankerson. Hankerson had her presented to R. Kelly, who has been her mentor, and her debut album's lead songwriter and producer, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. The album sold three million copies in the United States and has been certified by the American Recording Industry Association (RIAA) as double platinum. Aaliyah terminated her relationship with Jive after facing claims of an illegitimate marriage with Kelly. She signed with Atlantic Records.
