Aldo DaRe was born on 25 September 1926 in Pen Argyl Borough, in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He attended Berkeley's University of California, served as a frogman for the US Navy during the Second World War, and saw action on Iwo Jima.As Crockett, California's constable, he accompanied his brother Guido to a Saturday's Hero (1951) movie audition. Manager David Miller hired him as a cynical soccer player for a small role. The husky body of Ray, thick neck and raspy voice made him perfect for playing tough sexy roles.
