Steven Alexander James, FRSA (born November 21, 1968) is an English songwriter and singer, as well as a journalist and cheesemaker. He has also performed with temporary bands Fat Les, Me Me Me Me, WigWam and Poor Lieutenant, better known as the bassist of the band Blur.In 1998, with actor Keith Allen and artist Damien Hirst, James formed Fat Les, releasing (excluding three others) the unofficial theme song "Vindaloo" for the 1998 FIFA World Cup that reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart.He also collaborated with Stephen Duffy on side project Me Me Me Me, co-wrote songs for Marianne Faithfull (appearing in drag playing a double bass for her track "Sex With Strangers" in the music video) and Jane McDonald, and played with Florence and the Machine and Gene Loves Jezebel.
