Raised on March 20, 1972, Alexander Paul Kapranos Huntley is a Scottish guitarist, singer, songwriter, record producer, and journalist. He is best known for being Scottish rock band lead singer and guitarist Franz Ferdinand. He was also a member of both the FFS and BNQT supergroups.In 2001, Kapranos founded Franz Ferdinand, after dropping "Huntley" from his name. Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy (guitar, piano, backup vocals), Paul Thomson (drums, backup vocals, occasionally guitar), and Bob Hardy (bass) made up the band. Since their second single Take Me Out was released on 12 January 2004, the band saw chart success and reached number 3 in the UK charts followed by their debut album Franz Ferdinand (released on 9 February 2004), which debuted at number 3 in the UK album chart.
