Founded and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Koch was actively active in plays of both the art culture and high school theatre. He entered the DePaul University School of Theatre.Alexander Koch made his acting movie debut as "Frank" in the independent short film The Ghosts by Eddie O'Keefe. The film centers on "Frank," the rough and sensitive leader of the greaser gang of the 1950s, who descends into a new town and is in love with a preacher's friend. The film premiered at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2011 and was honoured by the Los Angeles Times, Chicago International Film Festival and Geneva Film Festival. In 2012, Koch's stellar performance of "Frank" landed him in Los Angeles where he auditioned for his first TV pilot and was cast for "Junior Rennie" role.
