Alice Jane Evans was born 1971 to David Evans, an applied mathematics professor at Bristol University, and Janet Evans, an English literature tutor. Alice graduated from University College, London, with a degree in French and Italian and then moved to Paris where she studied acting at the Cours Florent. She soon started to work, primarily on French television but also in the very popular Italian miniseries Le ragazze di Piazza di Spagna (1998) as "Nathalie," a French student who was forced to get to terms with the reality of life when she found out that she was pregnant by a man she wasn't meant to be dating.
