Angeline Ball (born 28 June 1968) is an actress and singer from Ireland who lives in London, England. She is known for her roles as Imelda Quirke in The Commitments (1991) by Alan Parker, and as Tina in The General (1998) by John Boorman. She's starred in both UK and US films and tv shows. She's a stage director, too. Her breakthrough role came in 1991, when she tookthe role of a protagonist as the backup singer Imelda Quirke, in The Commitments by Alan Parker. Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement wrote for her in 1993 the short-lived TV show Across the Rainbow, for which she composed the lyrics, too. She played Vada's mother in My Girl 2 in 1994 for which she performed a version of "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin.
