Anna Paquin was born in 1982 to the English teacher Mary (Brophy), from Wellington, NZ, and to the Canadian physical trainer Brian Paquin in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. When she was four years old, Anna moved into her mother's native country. The film The Piano (1993), which finally came in because it was filmed in New Zealand, was at the age of nine her first acting job.
