Anne-Marie Duff is an English actress, who was born in Southall, London on 8 October 1970. Her parents are from Donegal, Ireland, Brendan and Mary (née Doherty). Her father was employed as a painter and decorator and her mother was employed in a shoe shop. She first came to the British public's attention for her appearance as Margaret in The Magdalene Sisters (2002) and as Fiona Gallagher in the popular Shameless television show (2004), where she met her future husband, James McAvoy.
