On the Liberace Foundation Scholarship for Performance, Anthony attended Marquette University where he studied theater and Spanish literature. When performing for the Pabst Theater and the Wisconsin Shakespeare Company at Marquette, he performed in a number of classical, contemporary and musical works.He soon won a television spot for "First Steps" in the CBS Movie of the Week, portraying quadriplegic boy Dean Conroy. His first feature film, with Jackie Gleason and Tom Hanks performing Cameron 's role, was "Nothing in Common" Other feature roles followed quickly.
