One of Spain's most popular names, Antonio Banderas was a soccer player before he injured his foot at the age of fourteen; he is now an international screen star known for portraying Zorro in the eponymous movie series. He was born on 10 August 1960 in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain, to José Antonio Domínguez Banderas. His father, Jose Dominguez, was a Spanish Civil Guards police officer. His mother, Doña Ana Banderas Gallego, was a teacher. Young Banderas had a Roman Catholic born. He decided to play soccer professionally and had huge success playing for his school team when he was 14 years old, but his dream came to an end when he injured his foot. After seeing the stage production of 'Beard' he developed a love for the theater at that time.
