Aretha Louise Franklin (25 March 1942 – 16 August 2018) was an American singer, songwriter, pianist and civil rights activist. Franklin started her career as a child singing gospel in the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, where her father C was. The Minister was L. Franklin. She embarked on a secular-music career as a Columbia Records recording artist at the age of 18.Although Franklin's career didn't flourish immediately after signing with Atlantic Records in 1966, she gained recognition and commercial success. Hit songs like "Respect," "Chain of Fools," "Remember," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Real Child," "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)," and "I Say a Little Prayer" pushed her creative peers past. Aretha Franklin in the late 1960s had arrived the title "The Queen of Soul".
