Arthur Asher Miller (17 October 1915–10 February 2005) was an American playwright, essayist, communist-sympathizer, and a controversial figure in American theater of the twentieth century. All My Sons (1947), Death of a Salesman (1949), The Crucible (1953), and A View from the Bridge (1955, revised 1956) are among his most famous works.He wrote many screenplays, and his work on The Misfits (1961) was most noted. A Salesman's thriller Death has been numbered on the short list of the 20th century's best American works.
