Ashley was born on 9 August 1983 to Cliff and Nancy Johnson in Camarillo, California. Her family packed up when she was 9 days old and moved to Michigan where her father was relocated (an exploration ship's Ship Captain). They eventually relocated to Franklin, named "The Place That Time Forgot." She lived most of her childhood there but now lives in Los Angeles, California.Ashley has an older brother named Chris working on The District (2000) hit CBS series, and an older sister named Haylie Johnson who is an actress and singer. Her mother is independent film maker Nancy Johnson.
