Austin Nichols grew up in Austin, Texas until he was 18, when he went into a career in acting in Los Angeles. In 2002 he earned his degree in creative writing from the University of Southern California. Six Feet Under's role led to movies such as The day after tomorrow, Wimbledon and Glory Road. David Milch then asked Austin to play the leading role in his new series, John From Cincinnati after portraying Morgan Earp on Deadwood. Nichols was on a hit cable show list.
