Barbara Babcock (born 27 February 1937) is an actress with an American character. She is probably best known for her role as Grace Gardner on Hill Street Blues, for which she received a 1981 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress — Drama Show, and her role as Dorothy Jennings on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Lady, for which she was nominated for a 1993 Emmy Award. Even though she was raised in the U.S., Babcock spent most of her childhood in Tokyo, Japan, where her father was stationed. She learned to speak Japanese before learning English.
