A British comedian, novelist, playwright, musical librettist, actor and producer, Benjamin Charles Elton (born May 3, 1959). He became a member of the 1980s experimental comedy scene in London and was a writer on shows such as The Young Ones and Blackadder, as well as working on stage and tv as a stand-up comic. In the 1980's, his theme was left-wing liberal humor. He has since written 15 novels and composed the musicals The Beautiful Game (2000), We Will Rock You (2002), Tonight's The Time (2003) and Love Never Dies (2010), the sequel to The Opera's Phantom. His books cross the worlds of dystopia, satire, and crime.
