Ben "Kid" Johnson Jr. (June 13, 1918-April 8, 1996) was an American stuntman, rodeo cowboy world champion, and performer who received the Academy Award. Johnson, the son of a rancher, came to Hollywood to deliver a consignment of horses for a script. He did stunt-double work for several years until he got into acting through John Ford's successful offices. Tall and laconic, Johnson with his exceptional master horsemanship added additional credibility to other Western parts. The Last Picture Series, an elegiac depiction of a former cowboy theater owner in the 1950s, won Johnson's 1971 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor.
