Bill Treacher (born June 4, 1930) is an English retired actor. He's best known for playing Arthur Fowler for 11 years, from 1985 to 1996, in the BBC soap opera EastEnders and was the first person to be cast for the series.He made his West End debut in 1963 with the comedy Shout for Life at The Vaudeville Theatre, having graduated from the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. It was followed by several successful West End roles.
