How tall was Bing Crosby?
Harry Lillis Crosby, Jr. in Tacoma, Washington, was born to Bing Crosby, the fourth of seven children of Catherine Helen "Kate" (Harrigan) and Harry Lowe Crosby, a bookkeeper at the brewery. He was of English origin and of Irish ancestry. Crosby studied law at the University of Gonzaga in Spokane but became more interested in playing percussion for a small band and singing. In 1925, Bing and Al Rinker, the band's piano player, left Spokane for Los Angeles. In the early 1930s Bing's brother Everett sent the CBS president a record of Bing singing "I Surrender, Baby."
