How tall was Brian Donlevy?
Brian Donlevy seems to have begun life as colorfully as any character he'd ever played on stage or on film. In 1916 he lied about his age (he was only 14 years old) so he could join the army. When will Gen. John J. Pershing sent American troops to conquer Mexico in search of Pancho Villa — Mexican insurgents under Villa's orders had raided Columbus, NM, and killed 16 American soldiers and civilians — Donlevy served in that expedition and later, in the First World War, became a pilot with the Lafayette Flying Corps, comprising the Lafayette Escadrille, a unit of the French Air Force comprised of American and Canadian pilots.
