Santana started to play violin at the age of 5, but he turned to guitar at the age of eight. He played as a teenager in bands in Tijuana, Mexico, where he not only played norteño, but also blues, particularly for T-Bone Walker and B.B. guitarists. King. King. King. Influenced by the San Francisco Bay Area's burgeoning rock scene, in 1966 he formed the Santana Blues Band, which came to the attention of rock music impresario Bill Graham.
