How tall was Charlie Chaplin?
Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE (April 16, 1889-December 25, 1977) was an English comedy comedian, director, and composer who rose to fame in the silent movie era. Via his movie character, "The Tramp," he became a global sensation and is considered one of the most important personalities in film industry history. His career spanned over 75 years, from youth in the Victorian era to one year before his death in 1977, and welcomed both adulation and controversy. Chaplin's upbringing in London was one of deprivation and misery, with his father missing and his parents struggling financially, and being sent twice before the age of nine to a workhouse. His mother was admitted to a mental hospital when he was 14. Chaplin started to entertain at an early age, to play music halls, and later to work as a comedian and stage performer.
