Charles Quinton Murphy was an American actor, comedian, and novelist (July 12, 1959–April 12, 2017). Murphy was best known as an author and cast member of Chappelle's Show's Comedy Central sketch-comedy series, and as the sitcom Black Jesus' co-star. He was the older brother of comedian Eddie Murphy.Murphy was born on 12 July 1959 in Brooklyn's New York City Borough.[3 ] His mother, Lillian, was a telephone operator, and his father, Charles Edward Murphy, was a transit police officer and an aspiring actor and comedian who died in the year 1969.
