She became known in New Zealand for her roles as a presenter of Getaway, and in Australia as a presenter on The Contender Australia and as a judge on Australia's Next Top Model.Her suicide death in 2014 attracted press attention across Australia.Since being adopted at birth Dawson grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. She left off high school at age 16 to model in Europe and in New York City for Ford Models. A decade later she moved to Australia where she became a familiar face on the Australian modeling scene.
