Christopher Haden-Guest, 5th Baron Haden-Guest (born 5 February 1948) is a British-American screenwriter, composer, guitarist, producer, actor, and comedian who has dual British and American citizenship. Guest is best known in Hollywood for having written, directed and starred in his series of mock-documentary (mockumentary)-style comedy films. The film series began with This Is Spinal Tap (which he didn't direct), and ended with Waiting for Guffman, Best In Action, A Mighty Storm, For Your Consideration, and Mascots. Guest retains an ancestral British peerage as the 5th Baron Haden-Guest, and has openly voiced a wish to see the House of Lords reformed into a freely elected chamber. While he was originally successful in the Commons, his tenure there was cut short by the 1999 House of Lords Act, which abolished the right of most hereditary peers to a seat in parliament.
