Daniel Alan Mays is an English actor, born 31 March 1978. Raised the third of four girls, Mays was brought up by his electrician father and bank-cashier mother in Buckhurst Hill, Essex. Before going on to win a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art he attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.After graduating from RADA in 2000, Mays soon began playing a pilot in Jerry Bruckheimer's big-budget Pearl Harbor (2001) in a variety of supporting roles ranging from a bit of a part in the BBC soap opera EastEnders in 2000 to.He was cast as Jason, a criminal who assaulted his girlfriend in the Mike Leigh film All or Nothing (2002), and also starred in Leigh's next movie, Vera Drake (2004), where he played Sid, the protagonist's uncle.
