How tall was Dean Martin?
Martin was born to Angela (Barra), Dino Paul Crocetti, and Gaetano Alfonso Crocetti, a barber, in Steubenville, Ohio. His father was an immigrant from Italy and his mother was of Italian descent. At age five, he spoke only Italian. For jobs like a boxer (named Kid Crochet), a steel mill worker, a gas station worker, and a casino croupier and dealer, Martin came up with the hard way.He earned his first ticket to stardom in 1946, when he teamed up with another hard worker who also wanted to be popular in Hollywood: Jerry Lewis. Films like At War with the Army (1950) sent the band into super-stardom. The pair was to become one of the truly great partners in Hollywood. We remained together for 11 years, and appeared in 16 films.
