Diane Kruger was born to Maria Theresa, an employee in the bank, and Hans Heidkrüger, a computer specialist, in Algermissen, near Hildesheim, Germany. Before an injury ended her career, she studied ballet with the Royal Ballet in London. She moved back to Germany and became a fashionable model. At the suggestion of director Luc Besson, she took part in the event and moved to Paris.
