How tall was Dorothy Comingore?
For her appearance as the second Mrs. Kane (the Marion Davies to Orson Welles's William Randolph Hearst) in Citizen Kane (1941), Dorothy Comingore won a spot in the history of motion pictures. It was an exceptional success which both critics and the public justifiably lauded. She was reportedly nominated for an Academy Award on the short list. Charles Chaplin had met Dorothy while working in Monterey County in the Carmel Little Theatre. He became impressed by her and her recognition earned her a contract with Hollywood. The deal was scrapped unaccountably without even a screen test after only three months.
