.Elizabeth Ann Perkins was born in Queens Borough, New York on 18 November 1960, and raised in Vermont. Her mother, Jo Williams, was a concert pianist and counselor in drug treatment, and her father, James Perkins, was a businessman, farmer, and author. She is of English and Greek descent.Seasoned, in the spring of 1984, she returned to New York to make her Broadway debut as a replacement in Simon's play. She has trod the boards as a stage performer for Playwrights Horizon, the Ensemble Company, The New York Shakespeare Festival, and the Steppenwolf Theatre, back in Chcago. She found time out to marry the Chicago actor Terry Kinney.
