Elena Jane Goulding (born 30 December 1986) is a songwriter and English actress. Her career started when she worked with the record producers Starsmith and Frankmusik, and then Jamie Lillywhite, who eventually became her manager and A&R, spotted her. Goulding has released her first extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding later that year, after signing to Polydor Records in July 2009. She was the second artist in 2010 to top the annual BBC Sound of ... Poll and win the British Awards Critics ' Choice Award in the same year. She released her debut studio album, Lights, in 2010; it debuted on the UK Albums Chart at No. 1, and sold more than 850,000 units in the UK.
