Ellie Kemper, born on 2 May 1980 to Elizabeth Claire Kemper, is an American actress, comedian, and journalist. She is best known for her appearance in the NBC sitcom The Office (2005) as "Erin Hannon," as well as for her supporting roles in the films Bridesmaids (2011) and 21 Jump Street (2012)). She plays the lead character in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015), the Netflix comedy film, for which she has been critically praised. She joined NBC News in the summer of 2015 as a guest co-host on NBC's daily news show, The Today Show (1952).Ellie's paternal grandmother is Mildred Lane Kemper, the namesake of the University of Washington's Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum (St. Louis, Missouri), for which the couple contributed $5 million. Ellie's maternal ancestor was brigadier general, John Robert Jannarone.
