How tall was Evelyn Ankers?
Evelyn Ankers, a glamorous film actress who was a staple of the horror films Universal produced in the 1940s, was born in 1918 to English parents in Chile. In the 1920s, her parents repatriated the family back to England, and it was in Old Blighty that Ankers developed a passion for acting. She began appearing in English movies in small roles in the mid-1930s, while still in college. She appeared with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh in Fire Over England (1937), and with Bells of St. Mary's (1937). A beauty of talent, the low-budget The Villiers Diamond (1938) and The Claydon Treasure Mystery (1938) quickly acquired starring roles.
