Farrah Fawcett is an true success story in Hollywood. A native of Texas, she was the daughter of the homemaker Pauline Fawcett (Pauline Alice Evans), and the oil field contractor James Fawcett. She was a natural athlete, something encouraged by her parents, and she attended a high school with a good arts programme. She attended Texas University in Austin and graduated with a Microbiology degree. Winning a beauty contest at the campus had her noticed by an agent who inspired her to start acting. After graduation she transferred to Los Angeles and was instantly recognized with her good, all-American blond beauty. She soon got parts for such items as Ultra-Brite toothpaste, and Wella Balsam shampoo in numerous TV ads, and even made appearances in several TV shows.
