One of Britain's finest stage, film and television goods, actor Frank Finlay was born on August 6, 1926 in Farnworth, England, the son of Josiah, a butcher, and Margaret Finlay, with the dark and handsomely serious-- eyes.Frank attended St. Gregory the Great School of English, Irish, and Scottish origin and then was initially studying to follow in the footsteps of his father as a butcher himself until his side interest in acting finally won out.He was a member of the Farnworth Little Theatre, and at the same time met with his future friend, Doreen Shepherd, a fellow member. They married in 1954, had three children (two sons, one daughter) and remained together in 2005 until her death for more than 50 years.
