Frank Ocean (born Christopher Edwin Cooksey; 28 October 1987) is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and photographer.[9][10][11 ] He started his musical career as a ghostwriter, before joining the hip hop group Odd Future in 2010,[12 ] and his debut mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, was released the following year.The mixtape was a critical success and generated the single "Novacane" on the Billboard Hot 100, which peaked at number 82 and was later certified platinum. In 2012 Ocean then signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings.
