Gertrude Astor,was an American motion picture character actress, who began her career playing trombone on a riverboat. Gertrude Irene Eyster was conceived in Lakewood, Ohio, to a common laborers family. Of German drop, Astor joined a lady's band as a trombone player and visited the states. In New York she left the band to get film work and found a new line of work as an extra before her profession took off. Astor was a productive entertainer, somewhere in the range of 1915 and 1962 she showed up in more than 250 motion pictures. Her initially realized credit is in a Biograph short in 1915. She at that point turned into an agreement player at Universal. Her most popular quiet appearances were as the meeting stage star in Stage Struck (1925) with Gloria Swanson, as the vamp who plants taken cash on Harry Langdon in The Strong Man (1926), and as (Aunt Susan's) Flora Finch's niece, and voyaging partner in The Cat and the Canary (1927).
