Mantegna was born in Manhattan, New York, to Gina Cristine Mantegna, and raised in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Arlene, who owns "Taste Chicago" restaurant in Burbank, California, and actor Joe Mantegna. She was a trained gymnast and ballerina while growing up. She plays piano and saxophone and is an accomplished vocalist.At age 13, Mantegna made her acting debut in the film Uncle Nino in 2003 along with Anne Archer, Trevor Morgan and her father, Joe Mantegna. She later appeared on Going 30 in 13. In 2006 Mantegna portrayed Grace Conrad's mother in the winter initiative of Warner Brothers, Unaccompanied Minors.
