Giancarlo Giannini is an Oscar-nominated Italian actor, director and multilingual dubber who has made an international name both for his leading roles in Italian films and for his knowledge of a number of languages and dialects.He was born in La Spezia, Italy, on 1st August 1942. Young Giannini lived and worked in Naples for ten years, receiving his electronics degree. He studied in the Dramatic Art Academy D'Amico in Rome at the age of 18, making his stage acting debut there. His credits included performances in contemporary Italian plays as well as plays "Romeo and Juliet" and "A Midsummer's Night Dream" by William Shakespeare in Italian productions. He made his debut on television in 1965, starring as David Copperfield in the mini-series made by RAI, the national Italian television company.
