Studied theater at Carnegie Tech in Pennsylvania in the late '60s, which then incorporated with Carnegie Mellon University. He made her acting debut at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, as "Desdemona" in "Othello." She has performed in several regional theatres, including the Long Wharf Theatre, the Berkshire Theater Festival, the Eugene O'Neill Festival, the Seattle Repertory Theatre, and the New Orleans Repertory Theatre, playing several roles on and off Broadway since moving to New York.
