Heather Cox (born on 3 June 1970 in Heather Schoeny) is an American sportscaster who is an NBC sports reporter. She played college volleyball as Heather Schoeny at the University of the Pacific. In Mission Viejo, CA, Cox attended Capistrano Valley High School and was a standout player on both the basketball and volleyball teams there. Repeated injuries led to her preferring volleyball as her sport in college. Cox's collegiate athletic career included four years (1988 to 1991) on the University of the Pacific (Division I) women's volleyball program, serving as team captain on a nationally ranked top five team from 1988 to 1991, making the Final Four and becoming a national championship runner-up on 1990.
