Helen George is an English actress (born Helen Thomas; 19 June 1984). She plays Trixie Franklin on Call the Midwife, a BBC TV television series. In 2015, she took part in BBC One's thirteenth season Strictly Come Dancing; she was partnered with Aljaž Skorjanec, and finished sixth. George studied musical theater, entering the Royal Academy of Arts, London. She received her first role in the play The Lady in White about two weeks after graduation. On a tour she became a backup singer to Elton John. She sang them at venues such as Wembley Arena and Royal Albert Hall. George was cast on the BBC One sitcom Call the Midwife in the role of Trixie, based on Jennifer Worth's novel. The idea of working alongside the likes of Pam Ferris and Jenny Agutter daunted her. As part of the job she was educated in the 1950s surgical procedures, including how to carry a infant.
