A Perth, Australia native, Helene Joy studied at the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in Western Australia. Her early career started on stage where she appeared with the renowned Bell Shakespeare Theater Company based in Sydney in numerous roles. She went on with the Melbourne Theatre Company to perform such classic roles as Romeo, Ophelia, and a very young Lady Macbeth. She also starred on TV in the Australian show Guy From Snowy River and Water Rats and several others, before transferring from Vancouver, B.C. to Toronto. To carry on his life. Joy's new roles include a starring role in Canadian and British Television's award-winning thriller The Murdoch Mysteries (now in its 11th season), for which she has won both Golden Nymph and multiple Canadian Screen Award nominations for Best Lead Actress in a drama.
