Hiam Abbass (born 30 November 1960) is an Israeli-French actress and film director, as well as Hiyam Abbas. Hiam Abbass was born into a Muslim Arab family in Nazareth, Israel.[citation needed] She was brought up in Deir Hanna village. During the filming of Steven Spielberg movie Munich (2005), Abbass spent three months living in a hotel with the Palestinian Arab and Israeli actors. They had several discussions during that period which "helped both sides to grow closer."
