Jake Matthew Lloyd Broadbent is a former American actor. He is best known for portraying Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace (1999)." The film, directed by George Lucas, was the world's second-highest-grossing film at the box office, trailing only "Titanic (1997)."At a young age Lloyd appeared in advertisements and starred in four episodes of "ER (TV Series)." He made his film debut with Gena Rowlands and Marisa Tomei in "Unhook the Stars (1996).Following Lloyd's vision of working with actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Christmas movie "Jingle All the Way (1996)," producer George Lucas selected him out of around 3,000 child actors in the widely awaited prequel, as nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker, "Star Wars: Season I-The Phantom Menace."
