James Michael Bay (born 4 September 1990) is an English singer and guitar player. Until recording his debut studio album Confusion and the Quiet (2015), he released his song "Hold Back the Water," which has been certified platinum, in 2014. The album climbed to number one in the UK and number fifteen in the US. Bay won the "Critics' Choice" Brit Awards in February 2015. He received the award for Best British Male Solo Artist at the 2016 Brit Awards. Bay has won three nominations for Best New Artist, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song at the 2016 Grammy Awards. He released his 2nd studio album, Electric Light, in May 2018.
