Jane Alexander (born 28 October 1939) is an American artist, actress, and former National Endowment for the Arts director. She is a recipient of the Tony Award, and two-time nominee of the Emmy Award. Alexander made her Broadway debut in The Great White Hope in 1968, and received the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Play in 1969. Many Broadway appearances include, 6 Rms Riv Vu (1972), The Iguana's Night (1988), The Rosensweig Sisters (1993) and Honor (1998). She received a total of seven nominations for the Tony Award, and in 1994 was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame.
