Jane was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her mother, Evelyn, was a teacher at school. Her boss, Edward, is a former employee of the Department of Defense. She is the eldest of four. Her brothers, Jim & Bill, are respectively a coach, and an entrepreneur. Her friend, Mary, works for an online company. At the University of Wisconsin Jane was a theater major.While there with Tony Shalhoub, she became friends, who inspired her to shoot for stardom. She accompanied Tony in Yale University's enrollment and performed at the Yale Repertory Company. She had many film and theater successes including positive reviews for her replacement of Mercedes Ruehl in the Broadway play of Neil Simon, "Lost In Yonkers."
