Made in Newton, New Jersey, in 1964 to Joan, a secretary, and Carmine Garofalo, an Exxon executive, Janeane, the petite lady with the acerbic wit. She is of Italian origin and of Irish extraction. Before getting into show biz, Janeane's had several jobs. She worked as a courier for the cart, shoe salesperson, waiter, and manager of temp.Watching David Letterman on tv encouraged her to write comedy and she did stand up comedy until 1985. As such, Janeane has become a cult figure, giving a generation a voice, venting her anger on tv, dating, marriages, life in general and all that especially ticks her off. Janeane has performed appearances on The Ben Stiller Show (1992) (an Emmy-winning series, but canceled). She will like to work on future collaborations with Ben Stiller. For her work on The Larry Sanders Show (1992), Janeane earned 2 Emmy nominations, which established her signature character: a smart, sarcastic woman with a razor tongue.
